The 60-year-old decided she needed to gain a new marketable skill to add to her work experience and came to the NCWorks Career Center-Rowan in August 2014.

Through the NCWorks Career Center,Godfrey used the WIA Dislocated Worker Program to enroll in a CNA and Nurse Aide I training course through the American Red Cross." In November 2014,Godfrey completed all nursing certification courses as one of the top students in her class."" After completing training, she passed the State Board Exam in December 2014 and began actively looking for employment." Although Godfrey became discouraged along the way,she continued to work with the staff at the NCWorks Career Center-Rowan and was determined to reach her goal of finding a new job." She consistently visited the Center in Rowan County and gained all the skills needed for the nursing field that would allow her to continue working and using her background in customer service."
