Albemarle, N.C. – The Centralina Workforce Development Board (WDB) is excited to welcome Gus Vanegas as the new NCWorks Career Center Leader in Stanly County.

Before joining the Centralina team, Vanegas was an employee at Tuscarora Yarns. He quickly worked his way up in the company as a foreman, then supervisor and soon part of their human resources team.

In 2009, Vanegas accepted a position with the State of North Carolina. By 2014, he became the Talent Development Consultant at the NCWorks Career Center in Stanly County and in 2016 transitioned to the Business Services Consultant position supporting several NCWorks Career Centers in the Centralina WDB region.

"He has a great working relationship with area businesses, he's very entrenched in the community of Stanly County," said Ken McCoy the NCWorks Centralina Project Director.

Equipped with ideas for creating workshops for employers and forming even stronger relationships with local economic development, education, and community partners, Vanegas looks forward to better serving the community.

"I'm very grateful to have this opportunity and I'm looking forward to doing my best for this county," said Vanegas.

Vanegas officially begins his new position on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018. He replaces Donnie Mann who retired earlier this year. The NCWorks Career Center-Stanly is located at 944 North First Street in Albemarle. The phone number is (704) 982-2183. Gus Vanegas can be contacted at Gus.Vanegas@rescare.com.
