Jody Yearwood was a job seeker who just moved to the Charlotte area from New Jersey with her husband and children. "Being new to North Carolina not knowing the area and being out of work for four years, she wanted to sharpen her skills and get back to work again. After getting somewhat settled in,she heard about a Community Job Fair"sponsored by the NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus and the Centralina Workforce Development Board, just one day before the event. Yearwood approached the NCWorks Career Center table and spoke with Darlene Dessaure,Centralina Workforce Services Talent Engagement Specialist." Before arriving at the Job Fair, she mentioned she was unsure what to do."

With the help of the NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus she gained tips, information, and advice at the job fair from Center staff"which allowed her to successfully gain employment at Chick-Fil-a as the Community Director. Before receiving employment at Chick-Fil- a,she was a stay at home mom for years raising her children and taking care of her mother who had stage four cancer." Things turned around when she moved to the Carolinas and found employment." To date, she is employed, her children are settled in at their new school, and her mother is cancer free.

"Moving here has changed my life." This was a God thing." He did it all and for that I’m grateful to him for everything he’s done and the staff at NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus and Centralina Workforce Services."

Veronica Weibel,Owner Operator of Chick-Fil-a,was one of the employers in attendance and participated as a vendor at the Job fair. "She immediately saw how polished"Yearwood was"(with the help of Center staff) and offered her an interview following the event. "Weibel has been completely satisfied with the qualified candidate pipeline created through the NCWorks Career Center-Cabarrus system and is now paying it back by conducting Customer Service training at the Center. "Since hiring Yearwood,Weibel has had a great relationship with the Center staff and has built a wonderful business relationship with the entire Workforce system.
