NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln Assists New Marshalls Store with Hiring Over 80 Employees in Lincolnton

There’s a new Marshalls in Lincolnton and thanks to the staff at the NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln, the new department store is fully staffed just in time for the holidays.

When Marshalls District Manager, Jenny Burke reached out to the NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln this fall, she had a huge request that needed to be filled. Burke needed to hire employees for a new Marshalls store set to open in Lincolnton before November 29, 2019 - Black Friday.

After conversation with NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln Center Leader Tony Simpson, Marshalls planned six separated hiring events at the NCWorks Career Center in Lincolnton.

The NCWorks Career Center also provided office space for Marshalls staff to conduct interviews and discuss their candidates. Before the end of November, Marshalls hired about 80 part-time, full-time and temporary employees for their new Lincolnton store and opened prior to Thanksgiving.

“The Centralina Workforce Development Board (WDB) is pleased that employers like Marshalls continue to utilize the talent acquisition services provided by the professional staff with our local NCWorks Career Centers,” said David Hollars, Centralina Workforce Development Board Executive Director, “This is how business services is done in the Centralina WDB region – effective, efficient, timely, and completely satisfying the requirements of the employer.”

Hollars also praises Simpson and his great team at the NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln for their ability to meet the timeline and talent demands to staff the new Marshalls store in Lincolnton.

“It’s rewarding to know that employers trust us enough to contact us and say, ‘I have a need, can you help fill it?' ", said Simpson, “To see that need be fulfilled is a sense of accomplishment, not just for you but your Career Center and the community as a whole.”

The new Marshalls store manager, Zakiya Kinston spoke at Centralina Workforce Development Board's December 10th meeting about working with the NCWorks Career Center-Lincoln and hiring the right talent on a deadline.
